Q: Is this a legitimate US degree?
A: Yes, Lamar University is a fully accredited US university under the Texas State system. It has 15,000 students, a full and lovely 270-acre campus and has been operating since 1923.
Q: How can getting a US degree be so cheap?
A: You obtain 90 credits through Siam Technology College and 30 through Lamar University. Credits obtained through STC are at much lower tuition rates, making your overall costs much lower.
Q: Is this an online program?
A: No, this is a regular, face-to-face program that operates on the normal semester system.
Q: How can I get two degrees in just four years?
A: Each institution recognizes and accepts the credits from the other and, in the end you get both degrees.
Q: Do I need excellent English to join this program?
A: No. You need basic English. The first year of classes are all through Siam Technology College and specially designed to help you improve your English and learn how to study in a Western educational environment.
Q: Do I need to take a TOEFL or IELTS exam before being admitted?
A: No, you can join the program with only an in-house English exam given by Siam Technology College.
Q: So I never need to take a TOEFL or IELTS?
A: Actually, you do, but not until year 2 of the program. Hopefully, by then, passing the exam will be no problem.
Q: What happens if I cannot pass the TOEFL or IELTS or if I just am not strong enough to complete the courses from Lamar University?
A: if, for whatever reason, you choose not to continue the Dual Degree program with Lamar, you can remain in the Siam Technology College program at the lower fees.
Q: Do I need to study in America?
A: No, you can obtain both degrees by attending classes in Thailand. However, if you wish, you may attend classes in Beaumont, Texas on Lamar University campus.

Q: How can I get there?
Q: When do the semesters start and end?
A: The semesters are roughly from mid-August until mod-December and then from early January until early May.
Classes are held Tuesdays through Fridays usually from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Q: How many classes am I required to take per semester?
A: It depends on if you need an ED visa and other circumstances, but the minimum amount of credits you should take per semester are 9. It is better if you take around 15 credits though. And being that each class is generally worth 3 classes that would be 5 classes per semester.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Guys - Collared shirt (tie recommended), slacks, leather shoes, all in good repair. No shorts, sweats, torn jeans, t-shirts, or tennis shoes.
Gals - Smart Casual. No shorts, sweats, torn jeans, t-shirts, or tennis shoes.
Remember that university students in Thailand are required to wear uniforms and appearances in general are of the utmost importance. You are not just representing yourself here, you are also representing the International Program. Please be aware that failure to comply with the minimum dress code requirements may result in you being asked to leave campus and change into something more appropriate.
Q: What is class like?
A: First year courses have special course work that will help Asian students become acquainted with Western-style education and studying with a Western instructor. While Lamar classes begin in the 4th semester and are added to the student schedule over the last 2+ years.
Q: Where can I find accommodations?
A: Siam Technology College can provide self-sustaining, private apartments near the campus for around $200 (6,000 baht) per month. STC can also provide full board (meals) on campus as well.
